What time period do your Hertfordshire postcards come from?
Our Hertfordshire postcards span a range of dates, and we list the approximate era for each card individually in its listing where it can be determined.
What's the difference between a posted and unposted postcard?
A posted postcard has been sent through the mail and will usually carry a postmark and often a handwritten message on the reverse, which can help date it. An unposted card was never mailed.
Do you have postcards from other towns in Hertfordshire?
Our Hertfordshire stock changes regularly, with new postcards added from across the county as they come into our collection. If you don't see a particular town today, check back soon or get in touch and we'll let you know if something suitable comes in.
Do you note flaws like creasing or foxing on the listings?
We don't list every flaw individually, since the photographs show the postcard's actual condition. If there's something you wouldn't easily spot from the photos, such as a tear or heavy foxing, we'll mention it in the listing.
Will I see the actual card I'm buying, front and back?
Yes. Each listing is photographed individually, front and back, so you can see the exact postcard you'll receive, including any postmark, stamp, or message on the reverse.
Can postage be combined if I order more than one postcard?
Yes, we combine postage on items. Postage is calculated by weight.
Are these postcards suitable for framing or display?
Many customers frame our Hertfordshire postcards or display them in albums, particularly the St Albans Abbey and Cathedral views. As they're original vintage items, we'd recommend acid-free mounting if framing to help preserve them.
Why are there so many postcards of St Albans specifically?
St Albans was a major destination for Edwardian visitors thanks to its cathedral and abbey, and local photographers and publishers produced postcards of the city in large numbers to sell to tourists and pilgrims, which is why it's so well represented in surviving postcard collections today.
How soon will my order be dispatched?
Orders placed before 12pm are usually dispatched the same working day. Anything ordered after that goes out the next working day, sent in protective packaging to keep the postcards safe in transit.
