Lanarkshire Postcards: From Glasgow Cathedral to New Lanark

Glasgow Cathedral is one of the most striking subjects in this collection. Built mainly between the 13th and 15th centuries, it's the only medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland to survive the Reformation of 1560 largely intact, reportedly protected by the city's trades guilds when other cathedrals across the country were stripped or destroyed. Postcards of the cathedral and the surrounding Glasgow streets appear often throughout this collection.

New Lanark is another landmark that recurs regularly. Founded as a cotton mill village in 1768, it became one of the largest factory sites in the world under the social reformer Robert Owen, who introduced progressive education and humane working conditions decades ahead of the rest of industrial Britain. It's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and postcards of its mill buildings and the Falls of Clyde nearby are popular with collectors.
